Abby Bi is a multimedia artist from Beijing, China, currently pursuing an MFA in Video Media Design at the School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University. She graduated from Penn State University in 2018 with a dual degree in Film-Video and Theater.
Her work focuses on projection and media design for live performances, as well as multimedia installations that integrate projection and interaction. She explores the intersection of digital and traditional media, incorporating film, theater, game design, and 3D modeling into her artistic practice.
With a strong passion for interactive storytelling, she has designed LARP games, real-life escape rooms, murder mystery experiences, and immersive theater. She is particularly interested in audience interactivity—crafting narratives and environments that respond to choice and engagement. Her work explores ways to merge digital media with live performance, creating experiences that challenge perception, invite engagement, and blur the line between performer and spectator. Through an interdisciplinary approach, she seeks to push the boundaries of visual and performative experiences.
